12-15 of June we held our summercamp in Tromsø.

This year the dojo have 50 years jubileum, and we have arranged summercamp for more than 45 years so it is safe to say that this is a tradition. For those who have been with Kyokushin for many years will remember that in the early days summercamp lasted for one week.

More than 60 students took part in the camp, mostly from our own dojo. We had visitors from Finland, Alta, Harstad and Finnsnes.

For the first time we were able to give the children 8-12 year possibility to train at the summercamp so we got an extra insctructor for the children

At the jubileum camp we were very lucky to get Hugo Perez Shihan from Canada as main instructor and Oxalie Bedard Senpai who is a student of Perez Shihan was the instructor for the children, even Senpai is young she did a very good job with the children, it was here first time in Tromsø.

There was 8 sessions during the camp for bouth groups, including one black belt class where Shihan led us through the changes in kata.

During the camp Shihan led us through kihon, idogeiko, kata and kumite, so we worked on the basic elements of Kyokushin, there is a lot to learn form Shihans wide experience, and he is able to create a very good Kyokushin atmosphere in the dojo when he teach.

Senpai did a lot of kumite training with the children, but there was also kihon, idogeoko, kata and a few challenges for the children.

It made me happy to hear that Shihan reconiced an improvement since his last vistit, this was his 3th time in Tromsø.

On Sunday we ended the camp with kyu and dan test. 5 students went for dan test and the test was successful for all of them. Special this time was that Erling Sensei went for Yondan and his daughter Sofia for Shodan at the same test.

I will thank Shihan and Senpai for their effort to give us a very good camp and Kyokushin experience. I hope in the future to see them boht in Tromsø again.
